Got the chance to tag along with Danny Polise, founder of Penelope, while he sampled barrels of American Light Whiskey for the 2025 batch release.

While labeled as a 17year this is actually an 18 year! The barrels were dumped in January and the barrels were filled on December 13, 2006 Which makes these slightly older than 18 years. They didn’t want to go through the effort to have new labels approved and make a change when they already had 17yr labels ready and who can blame them. 

This does not drink anywhere near its 144 proof so be careful! 

Heavy nose of butterscotch, light cotton candy and has depth and body to it unlike some American lights whiskies.
